The devilry that breeds around us

I lie, I cheat, I behave obnoxiously with the urchin
                                                                on the street,
Such small wrongs are not wrongs at all --
They are liberties the clever take to stand tall--
Smug in their success, proud of their affluence,
                 eyes gleaming red from the drug of their feat.


Their good gentle nature is reserved only for a few who
                                                    have earned it--
Rest get a raw deal as the "rest" have nothing to
                                         offer and therefore do not matter
Crass, crude, immoral towards all but a few, their
 behavior modulated by personal profit or loss..
Grovelling to superiors, abhorrent to inferiors,
                                                    they breed
deception & propagate casual, wanton immorality --


Such is their desire, such is their greed,
The human weaknesses they devour, the hopes of others they feed
Sneaking to the material zenith, aided by dishonor and apathy
The world fades out, the false golden peak is but the only one they can see..
