The nippy morn ushered the pall
It accosted her thus, and let her fall
Thick dew touched her, cold and stale
It was slow, muffled; no escape of a wail.
The skies were bright & hopeful
The fair sun shone down
The clouds drifted by
A raven dropped a sigh..
And flew away.
The ground was frigid and doleful
The grass green pricked the bone
Life continued, unabated
There floated a mourning song
And faded away.
The vast blue dimmed
The earth dampened
As she wept.
It accosted her thus, and let her fall
Thick dew touched her, cold and stale
It was slow, muffled; no escape of a wail.
The skies were bright & hopeful
The fair sun shone down
The clouds drifted by
A raven dropped a sigh..
And flew away.
The ground was frigid and doleful
The grass green pricked the bone
Life continued, unabated
There floated a mourning song
And faded away.
The vast blue dimmed
The earth dampened
As she wept.
